Eligible Dependents

Eligible dependents are those people that can be included on your insurance plan. These may vary with the insurance provider. A typical definition might include:

• Your legal spouse
• Unmarried children, to include your birth child, legally adopted child, and any other child for whom you have at least 50% legal responsibility and can claim as an IRS dependent. Stepchildren must reside with you.

Age restrictions are typically placed on the definition of child. For instance, a medical plan might restrict coverage to children through age 22 who are not disabled.
