Family Status Change (also called Qualifying Life Events)

Defined by the Internal Revenue Code and generally includes a change in your legal marital status, a change in the number of your dependents, loss of coverage under another group health plan, change in your employment or your dependent’s employment that affects benefits or loss of dependent status. Any election you make due to a qualifying life event must be due to a reason consistent with the Internal Revenue Code.
