Medicare offers a Hospital Compare tool to compare the quality of care hospitals provide. This tool provides with information on how well the hospitals care for all their adult patients with certain medical conditions or surgical procedures.

This tool also provides information on dollar amounts Medicare pays for a given medical condition or surgical procedure, such as

• Average Medicare payment for the selected Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) to the selected hospital
• Number of Medicare Patients treated in the selected hospial
• Medicare Payment Range for Hospitals in the United States for the selected Diagnosis Related Group (DRG)
• Total Number of Medicare Patients Treated in the United States for this Diagnosis Related Group (DRG)
• Medicare Payment Range for Hospitals in the user selected geographic area for this Diagnosis Related Group (DRG)
• Total Number of Medicare Patients Treated in the user selected geographic area for this Diagnosis Related Group (DRG)
